O, You Birds is a concept album that delves deep into the mythological world of birds by Danielle Baquet. It is therefore, even if field recordings of birds appear in some places, not an album that aims to capture the voices of real birds or their direct imitation. Rather, it is about the mythology of birds that emerges through Danielle Baquet’s epochal album Ornitheology, released under the moniker Chubby Wolf, and her posthumously published texts, several of which are called Bird Scraps. The titles of the individual pieces are taken from these texts. They consist of individual lines, verses, and couplets, intended as gateways into the mythological world of birds. The pieces themselves contain no text; they are musical and sonic explorations of mythical ornithology — they are, as I hope, Ornitheology. However, I recommend Danielle Baquet’s texts to all those who wish to immerse themselves more deeply in her world.
