Sound Mining (generatively and intentionally)

Recently I started to deal with generative music, or rather to integrate a generative element into my music. Such elements have existed in many of my pieces before, but they have never been systematic. In contrast, such a generative element, specifically a patch on a small modular system, which generates sound events of different quality even without further intervention at variable intervals, is the basis of several newer pieces. My intentional interventions are limited to the operation of the mixer and the switching on and off of live electronics on the computer, with the help of which the sound events produced by the synthesizer are spatialised and generate further sounds. The pieces that are created with this kind of semi-automated sound generation, I call Mica Schist Mining, a term that on the one hand as an analogy refers  to the mixture of automated and manual elements in mining and on the other hand was chosen because of its own sound effect. Examples can be found on Soundcloud:

On Saturday, April 10, 2021, I will perform a version of Mica Schist Mining, which, however, contains more intentional elements and a wider range of sound sources (in addition to the modular system and live electronics, various objects that are “played” on a hand drum and a small Theremin). The title of this performance is: Mica Schist Mining (Frantic live version). The Facebook premiere will take place online at 21:00 CET as part of Under Szubcult :2021.04.10.
