Beyond words. What we cannot speak about, because we have no language for it, we still can express in music. Music is the language beyond language.
No.
I don’t believe in the supremacy of music. We cannot tell in music what we cannot tell in language. There is nothing to tell beyond language. Why should we want to tell anything beyond language? Why should we want to tell anything with music?
If music is not the supplement of words and words are not the supplement of music, what may the relation between words and music be?
Albrecht Wellmer assures us that music like art in general is intrinsically intermedial in relation to language. Because of the fact that music like art in general is directed towards speaking and reflecting animals, music like art in general is always related to words. Words and music are interrelated, they accompany each other.
Music is the companion of language. Language is the companion of music.
The following poem is the companion to my piece of music with the title Sweetness Falls in the Dark. The poem is untitled.
Nothing
Nothing falls
I
Me
I see
I see nothing
Nothing I see
Walls
In
Walls
I believe
Me nothing
I
In the dark
Sweetness
Falls in
Sweetness I believe in
Nothing
Sweetness falls
In the dark sweetness
Falls
In
Sweetness falls in the dark
Sweetness Falls in the Dark will premiere on YouTube tonight at 21:30 (UTC+1).
